Wellness Tips to Those Affected Out West from Week’s of Devastating Fires

The past weeks our hearts have ached due to the devastating fires on the West Coast. On top of a pandemic, these fires throughout California, Oregon, and Washington have forced thousands out of their homes and in search for safety. Not only are these fires causing a great deal of stress, but they also can cause health issues, ranging from sore and scratchy throat, severe allergies, congested lungs, and eyes irritated.

Some of my friends and I joined up to provide those affected out west some easy wellness tips to practice during these times:

✨ Diaphragmatic Breathing for Breathing Immunity from @thejoyfulapproach
Diaphragmatic breathing is a deep breathing exercise that fully engages the diaphragm and increases the efficiency of the lungs. This type of breathing slows the heartbeat and can lower or stabilize blood pressure and calms the nervous system.

✨ Acupressure from @5pointessentials
The pressure points of the pulmonary meridian extend along the edge of the palm, from the tip of the thumb down and along the edge of the hand. You don’t have to go beyond the wrist. Gently massage the most sensitive points to relieve any symptoms of sore throat, sneezing, coughing, runny nose, and grief. You can also use NAO’s at-home acupressure kits on the hands as well and press these spots.

✨ Essential oils from Stacie Malkus from Young Living
Use essential oils to purify and clean air in your home, soothe a sore throat, support healthy breathing, boost immunity, and stay calm and aid with anxiety.

✨ Nutrition and herbs from NAO Wellness
Use your nutritions and herbs to allow your body to fuel itself properly, boost immunity, and calm the mind.
